What are the symptoms of eczema?
A common symptom is itchiness. Scratching in response to this may be responsible for many of the changes seen on the skin.
What does atopic eczema look like?
If you have eczema, or dermatitis as it is sometimes called, it is likely your skin will be
- red, dry and itchy.
- highly inflamed.
When the eczema is very active you may develop
- small water blisters on the hands and feet
- your skin may become wet and weepy.
- repeatedly scratched, the skin may thicken.
- becomes cracked and sometimes bleeds.
- persistent scratching only worsens the condition and can cause skin infections.
And can be an embarrassment to the unfortunate individual. |
