Cold Sore Treatment

Cold sores - also called fever blisters

Natural Herbal Remedies for Cold Sores .

Cold Sores Treatment

Certain strains of the herpes virus cause cold sores . Cold sores are painful, tiny blisters that appear around the lips. They are caused by the virus herpes simplex type 1. Herpes simplex virus type 2 is usually responsible for genital herpes.

Once you are infected, the herpes virus stays in the body and can cause a recurrence of cold sores, also called fever blisters.

You get cold sores from another person who has an active lesion. Shared eating utensils, razors and towels may spread this infection.

Essential Oils

Do you want a natural cold sore / sores remedy with essential oils?

  • Bergamot oil helps to tame the activity due to its antiviral action, particularly if you apply it at the first sign of an eruption.
  • Melissa 3% oil also acts as an antiviral agent for genital herpes and fights the viral infection when dabbed on neat to affected area. As the Melissa is already diluted in Jojoba oil, it makes it a bit friendlier to the skin. If you are more sensitive than most, you can always dilute the Melissa oil further.

What are the benefits of using essential oils?

  • Decreasing pain and shortening the healing time of the herpes lesions.
  • Helping to inhibit recurrences
  • Assisting in prevention of viral activity by supporting the immune system

How do you use these essential oils on cold sores?

Dab on neat using a clean cotton bud each time 3-4 times daily. If using Bergamot don't spend a lot of time in the sun while you've got this oil on, as it may cause the skin to become sensitive to sunlight (ultra-violet exposure).

Whatever your type, a good skin care routine is all you need
to keep it looking healthy, fresh and clear.
